Non-fiction reading respone

The article "Imagining 2014" is about a sci-fi written and his predictions about 2014. The article first talks about the author Isaac Asimov and how he wrote over four hundred books during his life time. One of those four hundred books was the famous "I, Robot". Than article then goes on be talking about his predictions. Most of  Isaac Asimov's predictions were right, like in the 1964 in the New Your Times he predicted many things like video phone calls, 3-d movies, “miniaturized” computers, e-readers, and GPS. All of these predictions are were right but he not only predicted things we use in our daily lives, also he predicted some of the challenges that the world would be facing like overpopulation, and depletion of the earth’s recourse. But he had few wrong predictions like flying cars, underwater cities, and moon colonies.

I think the author’s purpose for writing this article is to make the reader reading this article think that nothing is impossible. This is because the according to what the author said, “Asimov  got a few things wrong including his visions of flying cars, underwater cities, and moon colonies. Those things may not be far off, but at least for now.” This proves that one of the author’s purposes for writing this article is to make the reader think that nothing is impossible because the author states how that even though Isaac Asimov got something wrong like flying cars and underwater cities. Back than in the 1960’s people must have thought that video phone calls and 3-d movies were only a sci-fi fantasy. But in 2014 we have made that fantasy a reality. Thus proven the author’s purpose for writing this article that nothing is impossible. My thoughts on this article are that    it is very inspiring. I think this article is very inspiring because it make me feel and that nothing is impossible. This is because of how Isaac Asimov some of Isaac Asimov predictions were right like the one about the video phone calls. Like if you were a person living in the 1960”s you would probably be thinking that Isaac Asimov is lunatic and that he reads to many comic books. But it turns out that he was the right one after all and if he were still alive today he would probably be proud that his predictions were right. So that makes me think that if in 50 years we made his prediction come true then in another 50 years we could accomplish even more.

This Article has changed my thinking about the because before reading this article I used to take stuff like Skype and video phone calls for granted. But after reading this article I learned that 50 years ago this stuff didn’t even exist or was a fantasy. So after just 50 years so much has changed like 50 ago  stuff like going to the moon was still a fantasy and now going to the moon is like a walk in the park. This article makes wonder what like the earth be like in another 50 years and will any of Isaac Asimov other predictions come true.
